Gerry O’Neill, CEO of South West Mayo Development Company, has welcomed the recent decision by Minister Phil Hogan, to increase business grants under the Rural Development/LEADER Programme (RDP) from 50 per cent to a very generous 75 per cent.

As part of its spring 2012 programme of events Mayo Sports Partnership is to host a club development seminar for sports clubs/groups on Monday February 6 from 7pm to 10pm in the Breaffy GAA Centre, Castlebar. Keynote speaker on the evening will be Minister of State for Sport and Tourism Dep Michael Ring who will be joined on the night by local experts giving presentations on a number of pertinent topics including child protection in sport, generating income through better use of facilities, social media for beginner clubs, committee structures/roles, and volunteer recruitment strategies. Indeed as part of the proceedings Minister Ring will also locally launch the new Get Ireland Active website www.getirelandactive.ie which is a one stop shop for physical activity in the country.
